A Word from Our Moderator

by Steve Kindle

2018: “Our Year of Renewal”
To renew is to give new life to; to give new vitality or vigor to.

At this stage of our congregational life, we are entering a very important time. We now know Pastor Janet well and she knows us. The strengths and weaknesses of our congregation are apparent. We have accomplished much over the years, yet there is so much more to do. In the meantime, we have leveled off onto a plateau where forward movement awaits. It’s time to rise from this plateau and move in a new and upward direction.

Know that every congregation plateaus from time to time. This is not unusual and is a good thing. Being on a plateau offers a congregation time to rest and recuperate. It affords time to take stock of where we are and where we want to be. But for this to work, it must be intentional and congregation-wide. Moving off this plateau and into God’s new future for us is, I believe, the task for 2018, “Our year of renewal”. Renewed life, renewed vitality, renewed vigor, awaits us.

Pastor Janet and I have great faith in this church and its potential for a long and vital ministry. At the next board meeting, we will introduce a way that the congregation can begin to move from where we are and into where God desires us to go. All of us working together can make great things happen. And isn’t that the joy of living for the sake of one another and the world God loves?
